Savory Strudel Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • Prosciutto
  • Cheese
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 whole egg
  • Milk (as needed)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
    • Unroll the puff pastry sheet. Cut one half into strips for decoration.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • Layer prosciutto and cheese on the puff pastry sheet.
    • Grate the hard-boiled eggs over the filling.
  3. Assemble the Strudel:
    • Beat the egg white and brush the edges of the pastry.
    • Cover the filling with another layer of puff pastry.
    • Seal the edges well.
  4. Brush with Egg Wash:
    • In a small bowl, combine the whole egg with a bit of milk to create an egg wash.
    • Brush the surface of the strudel with the egg wash.
  5. Decorate and Bake:
    • Twist and decorate the top with the pastry strips.
    • Brush the top again with the egg wash.
  6. Bake:
    • Place the strudel on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Once baked, allow the strudel to cool slightly before slicing.
    • Serve the savory strudel warm as a delicious appetizer or main dish.
