Puff Pastry with Camembert and Bacon

Instructions:

Preparation

  1. Preheating the oven :
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  1. Preparation of the dough :
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the Camembert slices in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-3 cm border around it.
  1. Cooking the bacon :
  • In a frying pan, brown the smoked bacon until golden and crispy.
  • Drain off excess fat.
  • Spread the bacon on the slices of Camembert.
  1. Assembly :
  • Drizzle everything with honey and sprinkle with ground black pepper.
  • Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the Camembert and bacon, forming a scalloped edge.
  1. Gilding :
  • Brush the puff pastry with the beaten egg for a nice golden color.

Cooking

  1. Oven cooking :
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.

Finishing

  1. Trim :
  • Garnish with fresh thyme before serving warm, if desired.

  • For an even richer taste, use a matured Camembert.
