Quick and Easy Faucet Cleaning: Removing Scale and Limescale in 5 Minutes

Step-by-Step Cleaning Process:

  1. Remove the Aerator:
Unscrew the mesh aerator from the tap using an adjustable wrench. The aerator helps regulate water flow and acts as a filter.
  2. Prepare the Cleaning Solution:
    • Place the aerator in a small container.
    • Sprinkle a couple of teaspoons of citric acid over the aerator.
    • Pour boiling water into the container and stir to dissolve the citric acid. The reaction will start immediately, with gas bubbles forming and water stone particles loosening.
  3. Cleaning Action:
    • Allow the aerator to soak in the solution for about 5 minutes. You may cover the container partially to retain heat and aid the cleaning process.
    • After 5 minutes, you will notice the water stone flakes detaching from the aerator. Gently assist the process with a knife if needed.
  4. Final Steps:
    • Once cleaned, reinstall the aerator back into the tap.
    • Test the water flow to ensure it is smooth and free from splashing.
