Slow Cooker Beef Tips

Step 1:

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and pepper. Toss the beef stew meat in the flour mixture until well coated.

Step 2:

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the coated beef pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides. This step helps to seal in the flavor and develop a rich color on the beef.

Step 3:

Place the browned beef tips in the slow cooker. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the slow cooker.

Step 4:

In a separate bowl, whisk together the beef broth, red wine (if using), Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried rosemary, and bay leaf. Pour this mixture over the beef and onions in the slow cooker.
